How to Install a New Boiler

Condensing combi boilers are extremely popular with UK homeowners. These units double as standard water heaters and central heating boilers. They also take up less space and are more economical than most home heating systems.

Of course, the condensing combi boiler is not perfect. The main disadvantage is that it does not produce enough hot water to allow for simultaneous usage. That means that if two people want to take a shower at the same time, the water pressure in both showers will drop. Let us take a moment to discuss installation.

When choosing a unit to install, it is best to find one that produces at least 16 litres of hot water per minute. Boilers that produce 25 litres or more are quite large and will support simultaneous usage. The actual installation may require some experience with plumbing.

The most important step is finding the right place for the boiler. It must be positioned in a space where the gases from the exhaust can be safely emitted and where there is fresh air for combustion. This can be a problem in basements that have low ceilings. Remember: never install a boiler within three feet of any kind of combustible or flammable material.

Next, you will have to install the radiators. Most homeowners choose to hang them below a pair of standard windows. Pipes and routes for the water and heat must then be selected. It is important to keep pipes away from windows and doorways. Ideally, pipes may be installed beneath the floorboards on the ground floor. These pipes are then connected to the radiators and a gas supply is added. The boiler will then produce heat.
